Matt Licari
Born and raised in the Bronx and steeped in the subcultures of skateboarding and music, Matt Licari’s early pictures of friends, family, and New York street scenes formed the foundation of the style for which he has become known. This combination of intimate portraiture and peripheral environs remain a cornerstone of his work today.
Alongside an art-photography career, Licari has built a reputation as a portrait, fashion and celebrity photographer. His eye for emotional expression and the ability to seamlessly toggle between clean studio photographs and raw, intimate on-location pictures offer clients versatility and range in seeing their brand visions come to life. His lively, warm and enthusiastic personality has enabled him to make compelling images of high-profile celebrities like Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldberg, Killer Mike, Rod Stewart, Michael B. Jordan, and many more.
Licari lives in Brooklyn and has remained entwined in the music scene, as both a musician and documentarian, alongside his professional photography career. He continues to make personal photographic work, documenting neighborhoods and family systems for print books and gallery exhibits.
